The spirit of the rules
Everything on Qurba was put there by a member of the community for the benefit of the community. Write the review you would want to read. Add the place you wish you had known about. Vouch only for what you know. Treat business owners as neighbours, because they are.
Be honest and authentic
- Reviews and ratings must reflect your genuine, first-hand experience. No fake, paid, incentivised or conflict-of-interest reviews. Do not review your own business, a competitor, or on someone else's behalf.
- Do not impersonate other people, businesses or Qurba.
- Do not manipulate Khair points, roles, rankings, votes or reviews. No fake submissions, duplicate accounts, or coordinated voting.
Protect halal and ownership integrity
- Do not submit false halal-status information or misrepresent a business's certification.
- Only vouch that a business is Muslim-owned if you actually know, because you know the owners or it is genuinely known in your community. “I don't know” is always an acceptable answer and earns the same points.
- Do not claim a business you have no genuine connection to.
- Never use Qurba to question, expose or discuss anyone's personal faith. Listings describe businesses, not people.
Be respectful
- No harassment, bullying, threats or hate speech.
- No content that attacks people based on religion, sect, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, disability or similar.
- Criticise the food, the service or the parking, not the person.
Keep content clean and lawful
- No sexual, violent or graphic content; no promotion of illegal or clearly haram activity.
- No spam, scams or misleading promotional content.
- No illegal content of any kind. Content that sexually exploits or endangers minors is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the authorities as required by law.
Respect others' privacy and rights
- Only upload photos you have the right to share. Do not post identifiable other people without their consent, and do not share anyone's private information.
- Do not add a private home, or a person, as a listing. Qurba lists public-facing places.
- Do not post content that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark.
Use Qurba as intended
- Do not scrape, copy or harvest data from Qurba; do not try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the app; do not use bots or automated access.
- Do not use the follow system, lists or reviews to advertise unrelated products or services.
Photos
Photos should show the place: the storefront, the food, the prayer hall, the menu. Photos are automatically re-encoded on upload, which removes location metadata. Photos that show people's faces without their consent, personal documents, or anything unrelated to the place may be removed.
How enforcement works
- A person decides. Reports are reviewed by a human. Automated filters may hold content for review (for example, profanity), but nothing is removed automatically.
- Proportionate. Most issues end with an edit or a removed post and a note explaining why. Repeated or serious violations lead to feature limits, suspension, or a closed account. Points earned by breaking the rules are removed.
- Trusted signals. Votes, vouches and reports count when they come from established accounts, so a handful of new accounts cannot swing a place's status.
- Appeals. If you think we got it wrong, reply to the notice or write to support@qurba.us. A different person will look.
How to report
On any place, review or profile, open the ⋯ menu and choose Report. Pick the reason that fits, including “Doesn't belong on Qurba”, which is always private. For anything urgent, or if you are a business owner with a concern about your listing, email support@qurba.us. See Support for what to include.
